...............apparently, my dad was put here several times...he has bipolar disorder and manic depression...and back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, it wasn't something you could get proper treatment for. It's rumored that my grandfather put his mother in here...that she lived out her remaining days in this place. It's said that bad things happened here...much suffering...and pain...can you imagine being crazy...and the only treatment was ice baths and electric shock? I have no reason to give why I want to go thru it...it would be during the day...and I'd have permission...I just don't want to go alone.

...getting a little...melancholy...is that the word? Sometimes people don't realize how lucky they are....I see some people who get all excited about the holidays...family is coming...or they're going to see them. I am very content to stay away from mine...at least the immediate family...my cousin Jerri has been more like a sister to me...she helps me when I need it and will always do what she can..I love her dearly....but the rest of the family...well...let's just say it's a good thing we don't get together. I'm not saying all this to get sympathy...THAT'S one reason I never told very many people when I was sick...just wanted anyone who reads this to be a little more thankful...you're so lucky! Besides..I have friends that DO like to be near me...and some that miss me....which makes ME lucky....

DO YA WANNA GET ROCKED? My favorite song by Def Leppard....I love to sing along...even tho I don't know a few of the words and I can't sing...which is what the volume control is for! I also like Vivaldi...yeah...actual CLASSICAL music! Depends on my mood...which means when I'm listening to Vivaldi I need some calm...it does the trick.....

...there's a song out by a Jeff Bates...Long , Slow Kisses...OMG...absolutely the sexiest song I've ever heard....(it's country.....go ahead...make fun of me...)...been getting into a top ten hits of the Bee Gees...found a new guy I like (another country singer)...Dierks Bentley.....he's a writer and pretty good at it.....but I also love certain soundtracks...Gladiator...(remember, Nik...Russell Crowe....whoa baby!!)...Lord of The Rings...Glory..(absolute favorite...and the movie...as Britt puts it...ROCKS!!)...and something a bit different...Almost Famous...Nik can vouch for that one...especially if you're a child of the 70's...fantastic!!

....one of the best ways to spend a lazy afternoon...(I said ONE...not the ONLY way)...get a favorite movie or two...and just relax...and if you're lucky....your favorite cat (or cats) will cuddle up next to you...and keep you warm...and well-loved...(for a few hours anyway....)...unless, of course...you have something else to cuddle up with....

...damn this cough...friggin' cold always leaves me with my own little budy...takes a visit to the doctor and several medications to get rid of it...I hate it when people look at me like..."are you alright?" ...anyway....know what ELSE is fun about snow? I like to drop my cat out in it and watch his expression (don't worry...I'm a big animal lover...and I do it gently...he's always sneaking out when you least expect it..so this is payback) I let him in after a few minutes...

BBBRRRRRR...it's finally here...winter...time to get the blankets all clean and keep things toasty......

...remember when you were young(er) and the most important thing was when the snow would get here so you could go sledding...the feeling you got when you came into the house...so warm and inviting and you were so wet and cold? You didn't think you'd ever get those wet clothes off fast enough...you were almost positive your toes were frozen this time...and when you finally got warm and you found you could move your toes without them falling off...what a wonderful feeling....

...one other thing..(yeah I'm gabby tonight, I know)...have you ever freaked yourself out thinking up things? You know...walking up the basement stairs...... thinking that at any time...someone...or something.....is going to grab your ankle....before you make it to the top...? One night at work...all alone in a place that can only be entered by a card key...I kept thinking...what if...someone were in the lab with me? The building has many rooms...and a motion detector when the alarm is set...and I swear to you...sometimes...it does sound like a door is opened on the other side of the lab....that's why I play the radio while I'm there ......OR.....one time...over a weekend when no one was there but me (that I knew of)...for some reason...as I walked towards the time clock...my back to a series of long hallways....I could just about hear....those two velociraptors from Jurrassic Park...coming down two different directions......screeching......
...and don't forget the someone's-waiting-by-that-doorway-that-you-can't-see-past-because-it's-set-back-from-the-hall feeling......

...a depressing news day...Coast Guard helicopter crash (I actually took the test ...um...years ago) nearby where supposedly fuel was spilled in the water (from a careless tanker, not the helicopter).....the football player who was killed in Iraq was supposedly killed by OUR side....residents in New York (also known as the rich assholes) hate it when a bird messes up a window so they apparently destroyed a redtailed hawk's nest...(bad BAD bird..shame on you for living....)

BUT....it's Christmas....no snow yet but it's 'a comin'....my "kids" are still kicking and in good health...I"M still kicking and in fairly good, soon-to-be-better health....I have good friends (no, GREAT friends)....I have a cool truck that doesn't have holes in the floor board....and sometimes...when I try really hard...I'm actually funny.....

...friggin cold...I finally got one....and I'd like to return it...plus the fact that I finally earn 10 days of personal time (sick or vac...they don't want to be too generous) on the first day of December...and I use one up already! Oh well, better than none at all...or worse, having to use em all up for chemo and sick days after that.

...hey ya'll...been busy lately...had minor surgery yesterday...another lump in my left breast...had it removed (the lump, NOT the breast). People at Methodist are great...nurses couldn't get the iv in and I started balling like a baby cause it hurt...I think I made one feel bad...but it wasn't her fault...chemo made my veins smaller...but eventually..I got stuck..drugged out of my mind..and I'm home relaxing on darvoset....yumm-eeee...BY THE WAY:anyone who doesn't get checked regularly for stuff like this needs to get their head examined.....now I get to wait for the results....
...getting hooked on Ghost Hunters on the Sci Fi channel....they have a web site too...interesting stuff...only reality tv I've ever watched...check it out...I think it's on wed nights at 8 and again at 11...

Can you believe it? I'm playing volleyball in Mapleton...Hollis Park District. I really suck, too! But it's a lot of fun...altho shades of high school tend to...pop up once in a while...you know, the jockettes...against the dorks...I hated gym class then.
I'm also going to try and get into a fencing club (not home on the range fencing...sword fighting-type fencing). It's great fun, too. Unfortunately, paying for the equipment isn't.
I hope Britt and Nik are having a wonderful visit. I wanted to go...but home and the shit that comes with it prevailed. I still want to plan a trip with Britt for after the new year......
...and so that leaves another exciting post from me....

Went to the Marigold parade Saturday...my cousin just happened to be Little Miss Marigold (way to go, Camryn!!). It was the first time I saw the parade. I always assumed they walked to the END of the block...but apparently a lot of these people were tired..or in a hurry...whatever...we were about the second to the last group on the sidewalk and one particular group (actually it was the "mommy" figure walking on the side...called the "mommy" beacause she carried a camera and just HAD to stop the whole procession so she could get a group photo of the float..after deciding to fold up the banner) pretty much quit. (no offense to mommies...but you DO know who you are....)

Stood next to a snobby older woman...I'm almost inclined to believe she wasn't from Pekin (altho we have our share of snobs in this town), apparently waiting to get a pic of some kid in a band from Washington...not very friendly at all. I do hope it didn't ruin her fine reputation being seen with us....oooh...I also hope her pics are blurry...(sorry...feeling a bit bitchy)

Hey! Know what sucks? Neighbors with barking-most-of-the-night dogs...neighbors who refuse to cut down dangerous almost-ready-to-fall-on-you trees in THEIR OWN BACK YARD!!

...which brings me to Galyn Clark. Mr. Clark is one of Pekin's finest...no, I don't mean a policeman...he's a slum lord...owns the house next door and has always been a terrible landlord....apparently owns up to eight houses and/or apartments, where I'm sure he keeps up the great job of being a terrible landlord with these as well....also been known to tell people to "fix it and take it out of your rent"...to install old used carpet and actually tell tenants it's new...(eewwww)...refuses to cut the limbs off his huge tree that threatens the OTHER neighbor on the other side of me. (woohoo..that's mine!!)

Bottom line...Clark is a dick...and according to my significant other has been one since his younger days in school. He also owns some kind of construction business in Peoria...Clark Interprises (or is it Corporation?). Whatever..just remember not to do busines with any Clarks. This man is an asshole.

Thanks to someone very close to me ( I love you, Chris), if "dick" doesn't cut down said offensive tree the city will do it for him...no doubt charging him out the ass....(would love to see his face when he gets that bill), but of course, being the "man" that he is...we're already having trouble with him.

So what's my point? Watch out for the dicks of the world (named Clark) check out anyone you buy anything from (named Clark) and....oh yeah, beware of anyone named Clark....

Is anyone in this town having trouble with HBO for the past couple of months, or is it just me? It's bad enough cable costs so much (yes I love television and no I don't have a life), but I've been paying for a premium channel that keeps readjusting every two seconds and it drives me crazy. I tried to get a satellite dish but it HAS to point towards Texas and guess what? There's a huge tree in the slum-lord's yard next door and guess where it's standing?

Another cold day w/o snow...yes I want more snow....

Ate at Golden Corral in Washington tonight...mmmmmm. Watching the customers reminded me why I miss retail soooooo much....NOT!! What's worse than a retail customer...a HUNGRY retail customer...with screaming brats...cranky spouses...and manners to boot.

Wow...I can't believe I haven't been here since OCTOBER. Things have been really different...(I wish it was because of all that money I won..)...all my friends know why I've been distant...lets just say it's great how your friends will ralley 'round you when you need them.

Hope everyone's new year was a safe and fun one. I spent it with friends from California and we had a blast. I have to say I was at my sarcastic BEST. I even had a genuine lawyer to pick on...and he didn't seem to mind at all.

Hopefully...I'M BAAAAAAACK............
