...so I went camping up to Starved Rock ...nice little campground...except for the Gomer across the way who decided he was dj for the night and played music until someone asked him to turn it off around 11:30. Then the idiot did it again the next night...like maybe we'd like it this time...once again someone asked him to turn it off....I've come to the conclusion that places like that are for when you are with a bunch of people..if you want peace and quiet...go to some out of the way place, or better yet...find some private place...
...Federal enjoyed his hike into Matthieson (sp)...going down into one of the basins there we found a nice little pool of water with a waterfall...there were a bunch of cave swallows that were skimming the water...so cool to watch..Fed got to swim and roll in dirt...then swim and roll again. What still amazes me is how many people don't like dogs. One woman even acted like he was going to bite her...she stopped in her tracks and looked at him, then at me...I told her he was nice...doesn't bite..she kind of smiled and continued on down the stairs...this dog is the king of Gooberville...he's never been threatening to anyone but the pizza delivery guy...(hey...he likes pizza)...this guy would never hurt anyone or anything, and yet people were avoiding him...of course there were several dog lovers there...some with dogs in tow and some that just wanted to pet him. One family started to sidestep us, but I noticed the little girl of about four was smiling and motioning towards us. I told the father that Fed was a nice dog and that she could pet him if she wanted...luckily he said ok and the little girl got a big kick out of it.
...I understand that some people have had bad luck with dogs...maybe being chased or bitten...I think it's the parents' fault if they never tried to show them that they aren't all bad...a kid with a dog is one of the coolest things I've ever seen...a great way to show them to respect animals...
...besides, wouldn't you rather meet a friendly dog than a not-so-friendly person?
