...when I was fifteen, I was told by my mother that I had to get a job...eventually I found one at the local drive-in, which has since burned down and been replaced by the newer indoor theatre. It was the perfect place to work for someone who loved (and still loves) movies. There were speakers hanging in the concession stand, and you could hear the movie playing while you waited on people. Now being fifteen AND having a mother that wielded an iron fist, I can honestly say I was very unsophisticated, so you can imagine what it was like to hear the dialogue from "Fritz The Cat", or some other "dirty" movie. Still, I loved it there...and when "Star Wars" came out I was totally blown away. I'd never seen anything like it before, and I went back to another theatre of ours where I got in for free and saw it six more times. Our regional manager even brought me several posters that he was able to obtain from other theatres...
...I suppose everyone's getting tired of hearing about the new movie...I never really cared for the majority of them, just the first two that ever came out...but I did enjoy the new one this past Thursday morning (yes, I went to the midnight movie with Britt and Alex, Chris and Alex's roommate..I'm sorry I don't remember his name at the moment). Still, the excitement I felt for the first time back then...what a rush. Everytime I saw it I saw something different....which is why I can watch a movie again and again and still enjoy it.
...movies are a way of escaping everything around you...what better way to be scared than by a great movie...you know you'll be safe, but you can't deny it...it's fun...or a romantic film that makes you cry..."Somewhere In Time" and "Ghost"...sometimes those are needed...and comedies...any Monty Python or Mel Brooks film...no need to say why they are a favorite...something that makes you think...gets you worked up...makes you so damn angry...and I hate to admit it, but computers add a lot to the movies nowadays...I loved "A Bug's Life" and "Babe," "Ice Age" and "The Incredibles"...

...the only thing you need is some popcorn and a soda...
