I don't care if you like 'em or not... these guys are funny...bbboooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg...........

...every day it's always something...the war in the middle east (or should I say wars?), children being kidknapped or found dead, children killed by one of their parents or a parent's significant other, children dying in a backyard pool, snipers on the highway, racial and homophobic prejudices, crooked or immoral or just plain stupid politicians, animal abuse, child abuse, drug abuse, gangs and your all around BAD people....and some people wonder why I love a good scary movie...

...at least mine isn't real. Nothing in Hollywood can be as bad as the real life pieces of shit that are let loose in our society. I am not a religious person, but you have to wonder if maybe a higher power isn't tired of it, too. Of course, Mother Nature has always taken care of herself; she always has the last laugh, and quite frankly, we may be the next big extinction. Hell, the dinosaurs didn't kill each other over religious and sexual beliefs. They didn't carry around the Dino Bible and preach to the others that it was wrong to do this and bad to do that.

...let's face it...man as a species isn't as intelligent as we'd like to think. If we're so intelligent, why do we squabble over petty bull shit, fuck up the world around us, and treat our fellow human beings as garbage? Why do we use God or whatever you call Him as an excuse for our self-righteous beliefs? We hate...we destroy...we ruin beyond repair.

...remember 9/11? I remember how, at least for a while, everyone seemed nice to each other. To see how people came together, dropped everything and ran to help, was unbelievable. But weeks went by, and we went back to our usual cruelties and greedy ambitions.

...the space shuttle program and the search for other life is an important thing we need to keep working on. We are ruining our planet, and we may need to find another. Plus the fact that there HAS to be other intelligent life out there...it's just too self-centered to believe we are the only ones. But I wouldn't be surprised if they've decided against us...we are dangerous to ourselves, much less someone else.

GOOD SCARY MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE...

Dead Birds..set during the Civil War...it was a pleasant surprise.
Session 9...fantastic...the old haunted insane asylum...great twist at the end. You won't ever enter a dark tunnel again.
Pumpkinhead...you've heard the story...
"Keep away from Pumpkinhead,
Unless you're tired of living,
His enemies are mostly dead,
He's mean and unforgiving,
Bolted doors and windows barred,
Guard dogs prowling in the yard,
Won't protect you in your bed,
Nothing will, from Pumpkinhead."
Alien...the best in horror AND sci fi...
Final Destination 1 and 2...if you have a thing about planes or electricity...or train tracks...or car wrecks...the third one is set on a roller coaster...grrreeeaat.
Scream...I don't remember much about 2 and 3, but the first was scary AND fun..
When A Stranger Calls...this is the one from the 70's...the first 10-15 minutes will mess you up...anyone who sits in a house with the shades open at night is crazy, anyway.
Signs...some think it was stupid...I loved it..and with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix, it definitely wasn't hard to watch.
Silver Bullet...the only problem with this was the werewolf looked like a bear, otherwise, it was creepy.
Halloween...a classic.
The Thing...the remake with Kurt Russell. Some of the creatures, especially the "spider head" were pretty neat.
Miracle Mile...this I think is considered a sleeper...great story with a ring of truth in it. When he stands up on the roof of that car and you see everyone...gives you chills.
The Amityville Horror...yes, the first one...how can you not be scared when you hear that voice say, "GET OUT!" It was proven it was all a hoax...or was it?
...these are just some that I could think of...

...last week a man (in Peoria, I believe) shot his wife, their dog, then himself. Rumor has it she was sick, and I guess he didn't want her to suffer, didn't think anyone could care for the dog, and didn't want to live without her. For some reason, shooting the dog makes it even more eerie to me...

...first it was all the teenagers getting killed in car wrecks like they don't have any sense. Now it's little kids drowning in back yard pools (one had two kids). I thought it was a law that you had to have a fence around these things?

...the Peoria airport is about fifteen miles away, yet every once in a while when a bigger plane flies overhead it makes that falling-out-of-the-sky sound. I keep thinking Pekin is going to be famous for some terrible plane disaster.

...when are they going to make a good, scary movie? Not gory, but scary...there's a difference.

I watch him more now, worried that he may stumble and fall. He's thirteen years old, pretty old for a lab. I have had him since he was three months, all legs and tail and an insatiable curiosity about life.

Last weekend he got to go camping again for the first time in a long time. There were two other dogs there, and they seemed to sense that he was a bit more fragile. He actually ran a few times, that old dog run that hints at the puppy he once was. He had the time of his life, I think.

He also got confused about where we were, having such poor eyesight and being very hard of hearing.

Poor old guy...he was the best watch dog...nothing could get in without his deep bark and I even heard a growl once, but I think that once inside, that tongue that loves to lick and that tail that once actually got sore (the vet called it limber tail) would make any intruder feel welcome.

Now he spends his days sleeping. More often than not he has trouble standing up, and sometimes he can't make it outside soon enough. I don't blame him for any messes he makes...that look on his face tells me everything. He didn't mean to.

The day he leaves me will be one of the worst.

...it's a very hot day going into an even hotter weekend...and my neighbors are idiots. For some reason they get two puppies every year, and in a month or so they are tired of them. These are both black lab mixes, brother and sister, and I've already called animal control for abuse AND the police for insessant barking several times. As usual our animal control sucks...it took them about three calls to finally get here, in which he just writes a ticket and talks to them. Any follow up? NO. As long as you pay the ticket (something the EPA does, too...it's ok to put shit in the river, we're gonna fine you thousands of dollars...since you can afford it, you'll pay it and keep on dumping).

...people should have to be checked out before getting pets. This morning I saw a black dog that had a red bandana on...apparently just a pet that's gotten loose. I hope the person that owns him finds him before some other idiot in the neighborhood does and hurts him...people do that, too. There's supposedly dog fighting that goes on , but for some reason, no one can get them...they seem to break up before the police can catch them.

...once while walking I came upon the front half of a doberman. It still had a choker chain on, and by the look on it's face was still alive when they started to cut it in half.

...how many of us have seen little kids holding a puppy or kitten by a leg or a tail....what the fuck is wrong with the parents? A little kid doesn't know the difference...and if you teach your kids, the ones who do should teach the little ones when they see it.

...how many strays are there running around in your neighborhood? Don't give me that crap about how it's cruel or unnatural to have an animal spayed. Vets should do that for their communities...if you catch and bring in a stray, they will fix it for free. Don't tell me they can't afford it. I worked for one for five years...they can afford it. Then there's the best excuse I've ever heard for not getting an animal fixed..."mine is a male...ain't my fault the females are all in heat...he's just doin' what comes natural...let those owners get them fixed..."

...dumbass redneck hillbilly...you are the one that gives us good redneck hillbillies a bad name...

...so just in case you aren't getting it...don't leave an animal in a hot place...make sure there's plenty of water and it's NOT in the sun (look up, Einstein...the sun...the sun moves! DUH!!)...and don't get your snotty little brat a pet until you can teach him or her how to be good with it..

...well, the shuttle didn't go up because of weather. I hope it happens tomorrow...then again, supposedly two different people gave it a "no go ready for launch" and were overridden by someone else. Sorry I don't remember who's who, all I know is someone has questions about the safety of the shuttle, while another is worried about the costs. Some people may hate paying taxes for this, but I think it's important, I'd much rather pay taxes for this than for overpaid politicians and the bullshit they create. As for saftey issues, there are some astronauts that are risking their lives when they do this, not taking careless chances. THAT'S what happens when you have some ass making crucial decisions about what's safe and what isn't. Whenever anything happens it just makes it more difficult to continue space exploration. Anyone who doesn't think that is important, shame on you.

...the Fourth of July is only three days away, and the guy down the street has been setting off his firecrackers for at least a week or so so far, not to mention the friggin' cherry bombs. Sorry, but I like fireworks just as much as anyone else, particularly the ones you look at, but whenever we've gotten some to set off, we would go out to a barren field and do it, concerned about safety (you know, the whole fire burns thing??), and not wanting to bother people. Some may think I'm just being a bitch, and maybe I am, but since my neighbors are practically on top of one another here, I try to be a good one and have some consideration for them. I appreciate the same thing in return. I'd also appreciate hearing this certain neighbor screaming from the pain of a burnt, partially blown off hand. Yes, seems I'm a bitch after all. (you all know that if Trashman said that, he'd be a hero..)

...I'm getting hooked on a show on A&E called AIRLINE. It's addicting...and for someone who worked customer service for a major book store for over 20 years, you'd think I'd get tired of seeing some of the stuff on here. People being rude, mean, obnoxious, and the one thing I just don't get, drunk. It amazes me how many are detained from getting on a plane because they are loaded. Do they see this show later? I would be embarrassed to be seen staggering as I tried to get to my flight. NOT that I haven't been that soused before. I've done my share, but I usually staggered into my bedroom and fallen (sometimes literally) into bed.

...I've no idea where everyone is...we all used to post and visit, but I guess our lives are so busy, or maybe we just got tired. Seamus and Mike still post (I gotta get out west...), Trash is still around, but once again Blade has disappeared. I hope he's ok.

I hope everyone has a great holiday...
